Posedge Introduces Multifunction Non-Volatile Memory Controller IP PlatformJanuary 17, 2012
By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor
Posedge, a supplier of connectivity and secure networking semiconductor intellectual property solutions, is kicking 2012 off with a bang by announcing the availability of the “Multifunction Non-Volatile Memory Controller IP Platform” for SOC designers. Most current generation SoCs and ASICs include the presence of non-volatile memory with NAND, NOR, Serial Flash, MMC, SD, Compact Flash. Depending on the cost, type of interface, software, control, and application suitability, many decisions and tradeoffs need to be undertaken while choosing these various interfaces for a SoC design. These issues needs can be now addressed with the Multifunction Non-Volatile Memory Controller IP Platform from Posedge, according to company officials. Any memory solution like Serial Flash, NAND Flash, NOR Flash, SRAM or SD/eMMC memory can be selected by the bundled IP platform’s development board. Apart from all the required connectors for SD/MMC devices, the board has plug-in sockets for NAND/NOR/Serial Flash/SRAM ICs. The board of the IP platform first needs to be plugged into a standard Linux PC. The complete solution can be then tested and evaluated by a designer for all NVM interfaces at the application level using the Posedge IP Platform Driver kit. All the tools required for selecting an IP along with required bit files and software drivers are included in the IP platform. The exact matching RTL cores along with the test benches, synthesis scripts and software drivers will be also provided by Posedge. "Posedge’s bundled multifunction Non-Volatile Memory Controller IP platform meets all the requirements of SD 3.01, SDIO, eMMC4.5 Host or Device Controllers, synchronous and asynchronous mode ONFI2.2 and ONFI3.0 flash,” Chakra Parvathaneni, vice president of marketing at Posedge, said. “It significantly enables faster time to market by ensuring the design team of full functionality and performance in their final SOC design." According to Richard Timpa, vice president of sales at Posedge, customers can fully evaluate the performance and functionality of Posedge’s Connectivity IPs with the Bundled IP Platform solution. The problem of functionality and quality concerns from third party IP suppliers are therefore eliminated. Timpa said, “Our customers are literally guaranteed ‘Right First Time Performance’ for their project by using the IP Platform.” Want to learn more about the latest in communications and technology?
