MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) is found at many enterprises. It initially gained popularity after it was found to be an economical way to replace packetized services at branch offices. Then, businesses saw MPLS as an economical way to replace long-haul WAN (Wide Area Network) circuits which connected core infrastructure.

Today, the MPLS Mesh solution from AireSpring (News - Alert) makes procurement, deployment and operation of MPLS networks for the distributed enterprise much easier. It lets an enterprise direct its IT resources on core business functions. Also, it lets users prioritize traffic.

According to a recent company white paper, the solution offers high performance for data, video and voice traffic. There are also optional Internet and voice services for AireSpring’s MPLS Mesh solutions. They provide all services via a single CPE. On-premise installation becomes easier because private IP, Internet and voice services are provided over a single circuit. That makes the solution cheaper and simpler to operate. Another way the solution is simplified is that AireSpring sends just one bill for voice and network services. AireSpring also takes care of integrating connectivity from diverse carriers.

AireSpring’s network has full power, processor and I/O redundancy. That guards against a single point of failure. It employs core routers and Catalyst core Ethernet switches – from Cisco (News - Alert). With MPLS Mesh service, Internet access is provided totally from the cloud, so there is no need for more configurations or hardware at the customer premise. AireSpring lets customers use their current IP address space. If a service outage is found, or if there is degraded service, AireSpring customer support will contact customers. There will be speedy action to restore service. Senior engineers from MPLS Mesh access providers will work to provide a remedy for the outage or service disorder.

AireSpring has over four billion call records handled annually, according to the company’s website. AireSpring offers conferencing, data, hosted IP PBX (News - Alert), integrated, SIP/VoIP and voice products. It also offers programs for telecom agents and Value Added Resellers. So far this year, AireSpring has seen success on the MPLS Mesh product and increasing sales of its cloud hosted IP PBX offering, TMCnet reported.
