GENBAND (News - Alert) recently announced that it has secured U.S. Patent number 8,600,006 for its one-step unified communications (UC) call transfer technology, which is currently active in GENBAND's Call Grabber solution.
Call Grabber is part of the company's SMART OFFICE offerings, which promises to enhance workforce mobility by enabling active call transfer between phones, smartphones, tablets and mobile devices in a one-step process that is unnoticeable to other parties on the call.
The company has now won the patent for this call transfer technology, which gets triggered by clicking on an icon or entering a dial code. The feature allows conversations to automatically be transported to the new device without being disturbed or detected by others on the call.
“Our Call Grabber technology is just another example of how GENBAND is innovating to make employees more accessible and productive,” said BG Kumar, president of GENBAND's multimedia business unit. “Mobility is more than just having a mobile device – it is about improving access to communications from anywhere and allowing employees to select the most conducive device for their work environment.”
“Being tied to a specific device during a conversation can be very restricting in today's fast-paced business world. Call Grabber offers a practical solution to a common problem by providing users with more freedom and flexibility with the ability to easily transition a conversation to the device of their choice,” Kumar added.
Being able to transfer calls between multiple devices, multiple times makes Call Grabber perfect for starting a call at a desk and taking it on the road or to conveniently move from a battery-deprived mobile device to a high-quality desk phone.
